Optimality of Zero - Inventory Policies for anUnreliable Manufacturing System Producing TwoPart
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper is concerned with optimal production rates for a failure-prone machine that produces two distinct part types. We consider the problem of controlling production rates so as to minimize the expected long-run average cost of product surpluses over time. We assume constant per unit holding and shortage costs and constant demand rates for the part types. We provide an expression for the potential function and prove the optimality of a zero-inventory policy, when the average capacity is suuciently large.

A Novel Continuous KNN Prediction Algorithm to Improve Manufacturing Policies in a VMI Supply Chain
This paper examines and compares various manufacturing policies which manufacturer may adopt so as to improve the performance of a vendor managed inventory (VMI) partnership. The goal is to maximize the combined cumulative profit of supply chain while minimizing relevant inventory management costs. The supply chain is a two-level system with a single manufacturer and single retailer at each lev...

متن کاملMyopic Inventory Policies Using Individual Customer Arrival Information
1 We investigate optimality of myopic policies using the single-unit decomposition approach in inventory management. We derive, under certain conditions, closed-form replenishment decisions, that we call a base-probability policy. That is, the order associated with a given customer is placed if and only if its arrival probability within the lead-time is higher than a threshold.
متن کاملInventory Management with Auctions and Other Sales Channels: Optimality
We study periodic-review inventory replenishment problems with fixed ordering costs, and show the optimality of (s, S) inventory replenishment policies. Inventory replenishment is instantaneous, i.e., the lead time is zero. We consider several sales mechanisms, e.g., auction mechanisms, name-your-own-price mechanisms, and multiple heterogeneous sales channels. We prove this result by showing th...
